Discovering the Kola Peninsula, the White Sea and the ancient Russian population Pomori.
The Kola Peninsula is a polar region with beautiful nature. Every time of the year is different, it gives the look incredible images that arouse admiration! March is a favorable time for observing the Northern Lights. We're still in the middle of winter... and here the Nordic nature is especially beautiful: the trees on the tops of the hills are wrapped with snow that creates almost sculptures; on the banks of the rivers you can always find peculiar ice formations; you will see the Frozen White Sea. One thing is for sure: that the landscapes of the North will not leave anyone indifferent!
We have developed an interesting route to go in search of the northern lights and admire the Arctic winter in the most beautiful places on the Kola Peninsula, and at the same time not far from the hotels. During the tour we will visit the Arctic Village Teriberka, photograph the coast of the Arctic Ocean, go to the shore of the White Sea, go to photograph the picturesque lakes and rivers in the vicinity of Kandalaksha and Umba, on the hills with snow-covered trees, in the so-called "Russian Lapland". We will spend 2 nights in the typical Russian village on the White Sea. We'll sleep in a Pomori House. We will do not only the photos of the beautiful landscapes under the snow but also the reportage of the place.
In the journey we move with off-road vehicles that will be at our disposal 24 hours on 24. The photographic outputs we will do with the snowmobile driven by a driver.
In February, the Kola Peninsula is cold and windy. The average temperature is around -20 ° C, but on some days it can drop to -30 ° C. When we go out at night to photograph the aurora borealis we will have to dress even warmer. They can serve gaiters, snowshoes and foot warmer insoles.

*It is believed that the first settlements of Pomori appeared on the land of Kola already in the XV century.
Originally, The Settlers of the Arkhangelsk region settled near the mouth of the Vyala River in the Umba River. Pomori settled in inconspicuous territory to protect their families from enemies. The basis of the entire economy of the inhabitants of Umba was fishing and hunting for seals. Hunters traded their prey or sold it to Pomori from Komi. According to ancient chronicles, in the middle of the XVIII century in their rural community lived about 300 people. A century later, the Umba peasants built the Church of the Risen Christ at their own expense. This wooden structure of 1894 built by Pomori still exists in Umba.
These days we will go to the discovery of typical Russian villages on the coast of Terskiy such as Umba and Kashkarantsy (with a beautiful lighthouse) and Varzuga.
There will be interesting surprises throughout the trip.
